LEE’S SUMMIT, FEBRUARY 7, 2016 – This year’s primaries will include the office of the Secretary of State. Two republicans are running in the primary. Jay Ashcroft, a recognizable name throughout the state, and Will Krause someone who has served the interests of Lee’s Summit and the area first as Representative and now as Senator for the State of Missouri.

His voting record is both Conservative and reasonable. A good place to get to see his voting record is at Vote Smart (click here) . It shows both partisan and non-partisan evaluations of how a candidate has voted throughout his political career.

In a current straw poll held by Missouri Scorecard (click here) Will Kraus is holding a significant lead at 71% to 22% with 7% undecided.

Straw Poll
Missouri Secretary of State
2/7/2016

Cast your ballot here.

The question to all of us is: What should we expect of a Secretary of State? After all, the only time they appear on Television is after an election if there are hanging chads to talk about.

The reality is that the Secretary of State has far greater influence in the day to day operation of the State, and in the fair ballot language at every election. If it is difficult to set up a business in the state, then corporations are set up elsewhere, depriving Missouri of jobs. If fair language for the ballot is not truly fair and easy to understand, then the results are slanted one way or another. In both ways, the Secretary of State affects the future success of the State.

How much do you know about the office of Secretary of State? Can you vote fairly for the person that will represent you – the way you want to be represented – by the person you are hiring to do this job for the state of Missouri? If not, you are not alone, and over the next few weeks we’ll add more to help explain the function of the Secretary of State so you can decide who is best for you and Missouri in that position.

Respectfully submitted
